There are also some emerging areas along US-59, like Splendora, which got the name from its first postmaster because of the "Splendor of its floral environment." The neighborhood has a private 60-acre fishing lake for residents. It is a convenient escape to quiet acreage at the end of the day. Finally, the county seat of Montgomery County is Conroe. This is my real home town. It is rich in local history, with a traditional a town square, and a sense of community some other areas lack. In the area there are many beautiful properties. One such development is Teaswood, having 1-acre+ homesites with good access to I-45 yet secluded in the lush pine forest. TeasWood is gated and has terrific restrictions requiring trees to be preserved around the perimeter of lots, so there is a genuine cozy feel that remains.
